The process of creating this magazine can be followed in greater detail below, and in its entirety at the end of this page. It began by exploring the assigned concept of metamorphosis & understanding the foundations of a magazine's production. The team brainstormed multiple concepts until settling on that of identity.
The experience of this project was unlike any other as it was done almost entirely collaboratively. Everyone contributed with unique and deeply creative ideas, and only some of the tasks, were split by teammate strengths.
Each idea inspired the next and created a very dynamic and exciting magazine. The interview questions were originally written and then recorded in each person's home, to be later transcribed and directly quoted with minimal grammatical fixes. It was directed to be an intimate & honest experience that everyone truly enjoyed being a part of.
The photographic sessions were also scheduled and conducted collaboratively, followed by a process of selection, elimination, & retouching. The magazine was sent to be produced locally, originally meant as a large newspaper-format, but due to production difficulties, had to be, at last minute, altered in size, format, and layout to fit a traditional magazine size, unfortunately resulting in a minor, unexpected inner-margin reduction.
